They had a military appriciation picnic today on base at the park a few blocks from our house. It was great we were able to walk to it with the kids in the wagon and didnt have to fight all the traffic since it was a free event for the whole base and it was crowded. The kids enjoyed playing the kids games and they had face painting and a bounce house, sparky the dog was there from the fire station and the dog from alaska pet zoo was there as well. The kids enjoyed eating their hotdogs and chips with some of their friends from playgroup whom we met up with. Also toward the end of the picnic they had a release of a rescured bald eagle out into the wild. It was a really cool thing to see. The commander, his wife, and 2 children lifted open the cage and we all watched the eagle get released. I wish I had my video camera but i at least got a couple good pictures. I didnt thing it was possible but i actually got a little sunburned the few hours we were out there, i never thought it was possible to get sunburned in alaska. just wait till we get to see the Florida sun we will be fried (don't worry I plan to have plenty of suntan lotion for us since we will be white as a ghost).
